The Herbs that Worked too Well

Created on: 2025-03-06

If you're ill, here's a provocative question:

Are you serious about getting better?

Here's an anecdote from a few years ago.

I was helping someone I knew who had a serious chronic illness. I won't go into details, but the main symptoms were neurological, and to a lesser extent she had digestive issues.

I offered my help, on the house, and she took it. I gave her a jar of herbs, blended specially for her, telling her that this was just the first step, not to expect too much, but still, take one teaspoon per day with water.

This she did, and two days later - two days later! - she reported there was a significant improvement in her digestion. That was a pleasant surprise even to me.

However, that was the last time she took the blend. Months later, I took the remaining herbs back, untouched since that day. I used them for myself, and they did me good.

It's known in natural healing that many, many people bail out when they see improvement.

Why so? These are people who typically tried orthodox medicine first, and had problems with it. Typically the results weren't impressive, they experienced unpleasant side effects, and found themselves on the merry-go-round of needing stronger treatments, or more medicines to counter the previous medicines. Many times they figure this out, and jump off the merry-go-round, but with no great alternative available to them.

They try a variety of alternative healing methods, which might control their symptoms, but which fail to make serious headway against the disease.

10, 20, or more years later, they are no longer striving to throw off the disease, but instead to live with it better. If the illness is severe, their lives begin to revolve around manageing it, and even their sense of who they are is involved with their illness. If they receive disability benefits, however much they may hate to be a dependent, it still becomes comfortable and safe.

So when they meet a healer who has the audacity to say, "I'm making no promises, but with the methods I've learned, many people who had the same illness have made massive gains in their health, or cured themselves entirely," - when someone hears that, that is often too daunting to hear. And when they see and feel changes moving in that direction, at that point many bail out.

This is a real shame. If only they'd stuck with it, the new life they could have had would have brought with it the energy to deal with all of the changes that that would have brought.

To anyone reading this who's ill: If you're looking to endlessly manage your illness, I'm not your man. I wish you well, but I can't help you.

But if you really want to take your health back - again, no promises, and the journey may be long or short, depending on the circumstances - but if your goal is to win back as much of your health as possible - all of it if possible - then contact me, let's talk.
